PLAKKIE AND WAVES FOR CHANGE REUNITE IN THE NAME OF MENTAL HEALTH

Plakkie and Waves for Change unite once again in the name of mental health. Both organisations have a strong sense of values and celebrate South African culture and resilience. Plakkie sponsored the Waves for Change team and volunteers with Plakkies; which is the absolute perfect shoe for the beach.

WAVES FOR CHANGE

Waves for Change is a non-profit organisation that provides child-friendly mental health services to children and young people in poverty and violence-stricken areas. What started as an after-school surfing program in 2010 for the students of Masiphumelele High school by founder, Tim Connibear and co-founders Apish Tshetsha and Bongani Ndlova, was officially registered in 2011 as Waves for Change under the Isiqalo Foundation and steadily took off from there and has since worked hard to create positive mental health changes. Waves for Change aims to help children and adolescents in under-resourced communities through surf therapy and physical activity.

PLAKKIE

The British High Commission first introduced Plakkie to the Waves for Change team, during Harry and Megan’s Royal visit to South Africa in 2019. An obvious and now instrumental partnership is appreciative of the partnership initiated by the British Consul General Ben Boddy. Since then, Plakkie has sponsored the Waves for Change team and volunteers with the latest donation taking place on November 4th at their Muizenburg Centre
