GOLF DAY TO HONOUR SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKET LEGEND GRAEME POLLOCK

Veldskoen participated in a golf day held in honour of South African cricket legend Graeme Pollock. The golf day was held at Humewood Golf club in Gqeberha on the 18th November 2021 to raise funds for the ‘former hometown boy’ and Old Grey. Veldskoen donated shoes to the raffle and presented a personalised pair of Veldskoen to Graeme, pictured above. There was a full field, which was booked just days after it went public and the support from Pollock’s former school mates and team members was phenomenal!

Graeme Pollock was sadly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and colon cancer and was hospitalised earlier this year.

Arguably the finest left-handed batsman South Africa has ever seen, Graeme played during the 1970s and ’80s. He was born on the 27th February 1944 and is a member of the famous Pollock cricket family; brother to Peter Pollock and uncle to Shaun Pollock. Graeme had a successful test cricket career making his debut at the young age of 16 but was quickly cut short at 26 years old due to the international boycott against South Africa. He played in 16 unofficial test matches during the international isolation and officially ended his international career in 1987 at the age of 43. Graeme is widely regarded as South Africa’s greatest cricketer and it came as no surprise when he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2009.

An online fundraiser was set up to assist him financially, you can help by donating here https://www.backabuddy.co.za/graeme-pollock.
