1. Hike up Lion’s head

Dust off your active-wear and go for a hike up one of Cape Town’s must-sees. The bigger the group the better the experience – the more the merrier! It’s always a great idea to bring some fuel, so pack those snacks and plenty of water to stay hydrated. It may be one of our smaller mountains, but the hike is not for the faint-hearted. The best part of this venture is that it is FREE; take advantage and get your cardio workout in.

2. Fish and chips in Kalk Bay

You simply can’t be in Cape Town and not treat yourself to a portion or two of hake and chips. Deep fried in a delicious batter, Kalky’s, serve a generous portion of one of South Africa’s favourite meals. A perfect Sunday lunch outing with the family at an incredibly affordable cost and efficient service!

3. Ice cream in Simon’s Town

 

After a long day at the beach in the mother city, it’s always best to end the day on a sweet note – and what’s a better way than indulging with a cold ice cream? 4. Cycle-hire on Sea Point promenade

Be eco-friendly and trade your car in for a bicycle! Who needs to go to Amsterdam when we have some of the best views in the world. Sea Point promenade is one of Cape Town’s busiest beach strips – collided with runners as well as being most dog’s favourite walking spot. Up Cycles offer bicycles for hire at R70/hour; ideal for a first date and perfect weekend activity with friends.

 

5. First Thursday’s on Bree Street

Ever wanted to channel your inner ‘hipster’ by going to an art gallery viewing but don’t have the money? Well, your prayers have been answered – First Thursdays is an event hosted by Cape Town’s most elite and it’s FREE. Bree Street in Cape Town opens up its best art galleries for a free viewing on the first Thursday of every month. Most galleries welcome you with a complimentary glass of wine on arrival and we’re not complaining!

 

6. Strawberry Picking

Summer is here and strawberry season is upon us – so let’s get picking! Polkradraai Farm in Stellenbosch is R40 per person for Strawberry picking and also offers affordable activities for the little ones, such as pony rides and putt-putt. This strawberry adventure is definitely a family affair and an outing fit for all ages.
